Berkley High School

For along while Berkeley High School has been a dormant volcano. No since the Class of 05's year have they had a undefeated boy's basketball team. Until now at least. The girl's basketball team for Berkeley is nationally known. Coached by Coach Draper and now coming back Coach Nak. The girls at Berkeley have a natural feel for basketball there. But, the boy's basketball has done a lot better this year. From varsities B.A.M and freshman's Thong "T" Nguyen and J.V's Langston Walker, the class of 12' and 09' is dominating Berkeley' basketball courts as we speak. Starting with varsity, last night on Dec. 20, they beat Bishop O'Dound on double over time. I had knowledge of O'Downd's height and Berkeley's straight up hard work so I figured that Berkeley couldn't provide an answer to O'Downd's height. But, I guess that B.A.M must of been on fire for them to beat them in double overtime. Both J.V and Freshman just finished a tournament at Fremont Christian. It was an all J.V tournment, but there was a one team shortage and they asked if Berkeley's freshmen would fill in the spot. Even though they didn't win the whole tournament, they won the constaliation bracket. However, Berkeley's freshman didn't win, their J.V did. The MVP of the tournment was a some what unknown freshman named Langston Walker. He may have not of played as much as he should(which I found was a huge mistake) but, the judge's noticed his effort and cosistant hard work each game. If I was to put him in ant NBA basketball team right now, he would do best playing with the Cleavand Calaviers and if I compared him to a NBA player, it would be Cleavand's own LeBron James. He can feed the ball, get down court and will make points during clutch moments. However, I think the fact that he is a freshman is amazing. He plays like as if he has been doing this for years with the team. Even though he may have natural abilities, his team may not. They have decent players like Cleavand "Mitch" Mitchell and Kufu Nabaji, but some other players have some work to do. Josh Amy may be a well known player, but he played sloppy and unorganized. Also, Ryan was not playing as well as he should of. He missed about 3 or 4 simple passes, a couple for Langston Walker, and couldn't make a lay-up if he wanted to. The thing that gets me the most is that Coach Marc couldn't keep Walker in at all. He was so consistant when to take him out. Everytime he made a shot, sub. It was hard to watch the game espically after they let Skyline get close to closing their 15 point lead. Luckliy, they have clutch players such as Terrel Mims and Matthew. But Langston Walker to me was a shining star to me in that game. He was silent but deadly(no punn inteaded). He could see the floor better then anybody on that team last night. I think he was the key to victory for them last night. Winning 52 to 47 was a close win.
